What role does the National Committee play in the UAE National Risk Assessment?

The National Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism Committee (NAMLCFTC) is the body that coordinates the UAE National Risk Assessment. It brings together the relevant public authorities, supervisors and law enforcement, engages the private sector, and applies a recognised methodology to identify and rate the country’s money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing risks.

The Committee also proposes policies, coordinates national responses to identified risks, and drives implementation of the priority actions that emerge from the assessment. Its work sets the national risk baseline that supervisors and regulated entities are expected to reflect in their own risk assessments and controls.
