Do TCSPs need to register with goAML in the UAE?

Do TCSPs need to register with goAML in the UAE?

Yes. As DNFBPs, Trust and Company Service Providers must register on the goAML portal operated by the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit. Registration is the gateway for filing suspicious transaction reports and other regulatory notifications, and no person may carry on a covered activity without the required registration or enrolment with the competent supervisory authority.

New TCSPs should register as soon as they obtain their commercial licence rather than waiting for a transaction to occur. Registration alone is not the whole obligation. A registered TCSP must still put in place customer due diligence, an enterprise risk assessment, internal controls, a compliance officer, and staff training, and must actually file reports when suspicions arise. Failure to register or comply can attract administrative penalties from the supervisor.
