How do UAE commercial gaming operators file a suspicious transaction report?
UAE commercial gaming operators file suspicious transaction reports through the goAML portal operated by the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit. Once an operator suspects, or has reasonable grounds to suspect, that funds or a transaction relate to a crime, it must report immediately and without delay, regardless of the amount, and without invoking any form of secrecy.
A good report states the facts, describes the pattern of play or payment, explains why it is suspicious, and attaches supporting evidence such as identification documents, transaction logs, and any internal analysis. The operator must not tell the customer that a report is being made, because tipping off is a criminal offence. To file, the operator must first be registered on goAML with a compliance officer linked to the account, which is why registration should be completed well before trading begins.
