When did the UAE’s new AML law (Federal Decree-Law 10 of 2025) come into effect?

Federal Decree-Law No. 10 of 2025 was published in the Official Gazette on 30 September 2025 and came into force on 14 October 2025. From that date it replaced Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018 as the governing AML/CFT law in the UAE.

Regulated entities should treat the effective date as the point from which their policies, customer due diligence procedures and internal controls must reflect the new provisions. The accompanying Executive Regulations, issued as Cabinet Resolution No. 134 of 2025, sit alongside the law and set out the detailed procedural requirements. Compliance officers should carry out a gap analysis to confirm that existing frameworks meet the updated obligations and penalty exposure.
