What is GoAML and what is GoAML Registration?
goAML is the electronic system the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit designates for receiving reports and communicating with reporting entities. Registration is the process by which a financial institution, designated non-financial business or profession, or virtual asset service provider enrols on that system so it can file. The two are linked by a single legal requirement: reports must reach the Unit immediately and directly through the system it designates, which cannot happen without an account.
Registration is an entity-level step with named individuals behind it, typically the compliance officer as the person who will file and respond to the Unit. Once registered, the entity submits suspicious transaction reports, answers requests from the Unit for additional information, and receives notifications from it. The Unit publishes the current registration procedure, forms and supporting document list on the Central Bank website, and those operational details should be taken from the official source rather than from secondary guidance, because they are updated from time to time.
Legal Reference (UAE):
· Federal Decree-Law No. 10 of 2025, Article 18(1), which requires reporting through the electronic system designated by the Unit.
· Cabinet Resolution No. 134 of 2025, Article 18, which requires immediate notification of the Unit and a prompt response to any request for additional information.
· UAE Financial Intelligence Unit, Central Bank of the UAE, which publishes the current registration procedure and requirements for the reporting system.
