Which international AML bodies is the UAE a member of?

The UAE has been a member of MENAFATF since 2004 and 2005, an observer to the Asia Pacific Group on Money Laundering since July 2023, and a member of the Egmont Group since 5 June 2002. It is also a committed member of the FATF and participates in INTERPOL and other relevant international organisations.

The UAE has signed and ratified several key international conventions: the Vienna Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the Palermo Convention against Transnational Organized Crime ratified on 7 May 2007, the Merida Convention against Corruption ratified on 22 February 2006, and the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.

It has also concluded 193 double taxation agreements, which the NRA notes as part of the tax transparency picture rather than as an AML measure in itself.
